Thelma Bannister Buffin, 94, widow of Deward Buffin, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, at Bluegrass Care & Rehabilitation. Born in Woodford County, she was the daughter of the late Perry and Mary Elizabeth Hammond Bannister. She was a member of the Parkway Baptist Church of Lexington and retired from the Fayette County Board of Education. Survivors include two daughters, Anita Collins (Neville) and Janet Kay Buffin, both of Lexington; two sisters, Georgie Beasley, Henderson, and Ethel Corman, Versailles; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A son, Cecil R. Buffin, a sister, Ruby Redmon, and a grandchild, Kinsey Buffin, are deceased. Services were conducted Monday, Aug. 29 at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by the Rev. Paul Floyd. Burial was in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Casket bearers were Josh Stockton, Matthew Stockton, Mark Miller, Darrell Collins, Tony Beasley, and Steve Beasley. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
