Ira B. McLean Jr., 89, of Midway, husband of Elizabeth McLean, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017. A native of Woodford County, he was born on June 8, 1927, the son of the late Ira and Vera McLean. He worked as a purchasing agent for Procter and Gamble and was a member and deacon emeritus of Midway Baptist Church. In addition to his wife of 70 years, he is survived by a daughter, Iraline (Art) Craig, Midway; a son, Gene (Leigh Ann) McLean, Louisville; two sisters, Doris Culbertson, Stanford, and Georgette Towles, Lexington; two brothers, Raymond McLean, Frankfort, and Edward McLean, Frankfort; six grandchildren, Neil Craig, Nathan Craig, Rachael Jackson, Brad McLean, Alex Sharp, and Will Thacker; and eight great-grandchildren. A sister, Estelle Simon, and three brothers Walter, Harold, and Boyce McLean, are deceased. Services were conducted Monday, Feb. 13, at Midway Baptist Church by the Rev. Jamie Broome and the Rev. Steve Hadden. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Honorary casket bearers were the deacons of Midway Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Midway Baptist Church.
