Clarence Brooks, 92, of Somerset, formerly of Berlin, Pennsylvania, and Versailles, died July 25, 2018, at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital in Johnstown.
Born on Nov. 22, 1925, in Jessamine County, he is the son of the late Elliot and Gladys (Hamm) Brooks. Clarence was a retired cattle and tobacco farmer in Kentucky. He also enjoyed growing fruits and vegetables of all kinds. He loved playing his guitar and singing and was an avid fan of University of Kentucky basketball.
Clarence is survived by his children Reata (Bill) Buffin, Versailles; Jan (Jerry) Hurst, Shelbyville; Phyllis (Joe) Esenbock, Lexington; Martin (Caitlyn) Richards, Berea; Nita Richards, Berlin, Pennsylvania; and Jessica (Steve) Sorber, Hershey, Pennsylvania; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a sister Elsie Roberts, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Lou Brooks, on April 20, 2018; brothers, Harry and Paul Brooks; and sister, Nancy Gayheart.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Heritage at Siemon’s for their love and kindness for Clarence.
A memorial service was held Monday, July 30, at Holy Trinity Church in Berlin by Pastor Nyla Cogan.
