The Central KY Chapter’s Annual Project Linus Blanket Day will be held on March 16 at St. John Episcopal Church in Versailles. The mission of Project Linus is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade, washable blankets and afghans, lovingly crafted by volunteer blanketeers. Quilts for children in need will be assembled at St. John’s, 210 N. Main St., Versailles and the community is invited to attend.
Anyone who can learn to tie a square knot is invited to join in the fun anytime between l0 a.m. until 2 p.m. Community involvement is vital to the success of this event,and it is hoped that as many people as possible will come and help make quilts. The Chapter will supply all materials.
We receive weekly calls for blanket requests and we are projecting delivering blankets to over 2000 children this year. In our 17 years of service, we have delivered a total of 36,272 blankets.
This volunteer organization always welcomes new Blanketeers, donations of blankets (there are several drop off locations) and we always appreciate any donations of fleece, flannel, fabric, quilting supplies, sewing notions.
