John Whitney Biggerstaff, 84, died Thursday Aug. 8, 2019, after a long illness. Born on Nov. 25, 1934, in Woodford County, he was the son of the late Henry and Dorothy Steele Biggerstaff. He served in the naval reserves and was a supervisor at Columbia Gas prior to retirement. He was an active member of Pinckard Baptist Church, where he served as trustee chairman for many years. Survivors include two daughters, Cathy Hanley, Union; and Tamara (Robert) Shumate, Versailles; and two grandchildren, Christy (Aaron) Shirliff and Wayne (Heather) Hanley. He was preceded in death the previous week by his wife of 39 years, Betty T. Biggerstaff Graveside services will be held at Midway Cemetery.
