• KEENON LAINE: The Woodford County graduate was named to the United States’ track and field world championship roster. The team competes in Qatar Sept. 27 through Oct. 7. Laine is one of three high jumpers on the U.S. roster.
  • DAEGAN BUSH: WCHS senior offensive lineman went on a visit Saturday to The Citadel to see the Bulldogs defeat Charleston Southern. Bush received an offer from the Division-I school in May.
  • WCHS BOYS SOCCER: After reaching No. 7 in state rankings, the Yellow Jackets have gone cold, playing Madison Central to a 0-0 draw Thursday, Sept. 19 and losing 2-1 at Great Crossing Tuesday evening.
  • WCHS VOLLEYBALL: The Lady Yellow Jackets defeated Shelby County last Thursday to stay perfect in district play but lost Tuesday evening at Lafayette. Woodford takes on Lexington Christian Thursday evening before competing in the Thoroughbred Smash at Lafayette Sept. 27-28.
  • MIDWAY UNIVERSITY: Two athletes from Midway were named players of the week for the River States Conference. West Jessamine graduate Brynn Bradley was named offensive player of the week for womens’ soccer and Alysha Tullar was named attacking volleyball player of the week.
