WCHS BOYS’ BASKETBALL: The Yellow Jackets competed in a scrimmage with Seneca High School Saturday. Woodford County led 41-31 through three quarters, but the Red Hawks rallied and outscored the Jackets 18-5 in the fourth quarter to win 49-46.
- WCHS FOOTBALL: Coach Dennis Johnson, Skyelar Johnson, Daegan Bush and Corey Walton made an appearance on this week’s Scholastic Ball Report on WKYT. The video can be found on the WKYT Youtube page.
- WCHS ARCHERY: The preseason is underway and the Arrow Jackets shot well Saturday in Georgetown. Devon Wilson led the boys with a 290 and 21 bullseyes, but CJ Tupman was right behind him with a 288 and 19 bullseyes. Anemeone Rishel was the top scorer on the girls’ side with a 285 and 17 bullseyes for the Lady Jackets. Osiana Zinn was just behind her, shooting 279 with 13 bullseyes. It’s not too late for potential archers to join the team. Tryouts will be held next week.
- WCHS SWIMMING AND DIVING: Wednesday evening marked the beginning of the season for the Jacketfish as they competed at Falling Springs against the Frankfort schools. The next meet is Wednesday, Nov. 20 against Lexington Christian and Montgomery County.
- WCHS GIRLS’ BASKETBALL: Consensus around the program, specifically from Coach Erik Daniels, is that the Lady Yellow Jackets are flying under the radar with regards to preseason rankings. Following Jacket Madness Friday evening, Woodford will get their first chance to play someone else in a scrimmage Saturday.
