Josephine Whisman Fugate, 89, formerly of Versailles, widow of Donald R. Fugate, Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020. Born on April 2, 1930, in Perry County, she was the daughter of Emory Stedman and Bertha Edna Hord Whisman. She attended Immanuel Baptist Church of Frankfort and was a graduate from Midway Pinkerton High School. She attended Midway College getting a degree in home economics. She had been a house parent, worked in food service at Midway College and was director of food service at the Methodist Home of Kentucky. Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Jean Fugate and Donna (Steve) Jo Coleman; a son, Emory Howard Fugate, all of Frankfort; a sister, Carolyn Bowles, Richmond; three grandchildren, Samuel (Jessica) Ray Coleman, Stedman (Jessica) Kyle Coleman, and Jessica Melissa Fugate; and three great-grandchildren, Wyatt Hamilton Coleman, Makenna Coleman and Mia Coleman. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Turner Mosgrove; and twin brother, Joseph Whisman. Services were conducted Monday, Jan. 27, at Immanuel Baptist Church, Frankfort. Pallbearers were Sam Coleman, Kyle Coleman, Bradley Robinson, Boro Rudic, Brad Ashby and Chris Dobbs. Interment followed in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1800 Louisville Road, Frankfort, Ky. 40601; Hospice of the Bluegrass, 663 Teton Trail, Frankfort, Ky. 40601; or a charity of choice.
