Billy Joe Mitchell, 88, husband of Julia Gregory Mitchell, died Tuesday, March 17, 2020, at Thomson Hood Veterans Center. Born on Jan. 3, 1932, in Williamson, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Charles and Annie Stratton Mitchell. He served 20 years in the United States Air Force, and while with NATO, he lived in France, Germany and Greece. In addition to his wife of 37 years, he is survived by two daughters, Kristine (Roger) Andersson, San Jose, California; and Nene LaBeet, Copenhagen, Denmark; three grandchildren, Charlotte Andersson, San Jose, California; Emil LaBeet and Dane Grace, both of Copenhagen, Denmark. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Glendora Howard. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
