Hershel Wiley Sr., 95, husband of Eddie B. Sayre Wiley, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020. Born on June 28, 1925, in Franklin County in Switzer, he was the son of the late Roy and Blanche Jackson Wiley. He served in the United States Army in World War II and was a farmer. In addition to his wife of 77 years, he is survived by a daughter, Millie (Dick) Courtney, Versailles; a son, Hershel (Madeline) Wiley Jr., Versailles; three grandchildren, Kenna (Ken) Pacilio, Lynn Buchanan and Hershel (Sara) Wiley III; six great-grandchildren, Nikki James, Kody James, Hershel Cole Wiley IV, Nick (Cloe) Pacilo and Breanna Claywell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Buchanan; and a brother, Marvin Wiley. A private service was held Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Dick Courtney, Ken Pacilio, John McKinney, Gerald Wright, Elmo Richardson and Allen Glass. Honorary pallbearers were Kenna Pacilio, Nikki James, Kody James, Nick Pacilio, Lynn Buchanan and Hershel Cole Wiley IV. Interment followed in Midway Cemetery.
