Kathleen Sutherland, age 75, of Versailles, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021.

Born on Feb. 19, 1946, in Versailles, she was the daughter of the late Charles Matthew Parker and Ruth Lee Gollar. Kathleen was active in the Versailles Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and enjoyed talking about the Bible and sharing her faith with others.

She was in one of the first classes to graduate from the still existing Woodford County High School. Kathleen was known for her love of all shades of purple, hats and baking. Her outfit wasn’t complete without a hat. She baked pies, cakes and muffins for practically everyone. Even in her final days, she told the EMTs that transferred her to the hospital that she would bake them a pie when she felt better.

Kathleen is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Kenneth Lee Sutherland, whom she wed July 24, 1965; and their five children, Tina (James) Sutherland, Michael Sutherland, Christopher (Tabitha) Sutherland, Timothy Sutherland and Michelle (Dewayne) Sutherland; three dearly loved grandchildren, Jordan Sutherland, Matthew Sutherland and Benjamin West; a great-grandchild, Elijah Sutherland; her brother, Charles Parker; her sisters, twin Madleen (Wayne) Perkins and Barbara Lou Hisle; stepsister, Dixie Houghlin; and a multitude of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, George Richard Lee and stepmother, Leta Christian Parker.

A memorial service was held Saturday, March 13. Burial followed in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
