Nannie Belle Cummins, 84, passed away at home in Lawrenceburg Monday,
March 29, 2021. Nannie was the wife of the late Claude B. Cummins Sr.
Born in Versailles, on Feb. 1, 1937, she was the daughter of the late
William Elijah and Anna Mae Kirkland Foley. After being born in
Versailles, and when Nannie was still young, her family moved to
Lexington. Then Nannie married her husband and they moved to
Lawrenceburg, where they spent the rest of their life. Nannie was a hard
worker while being a homemaker; she babysat many kids, cleaned houses,
hauled hay and tobacco, and even worked for the state government before
her mother got sick. She then took time away to care for her. Nannie was
a member of the Corinth Christian Church, where she made it her personal
work to send cards to anyone she thought needed one. Nannie was known
for her cooking, especially homemade biscuits. Nannie’s house was always
full and open to everyone. She also loved to fish.
She is survived by her children, Claude (Pam) Cummins Jr., James
(Connie) Lewis Cummins, Everett (Rita) Wayne Cummins, Peggy (Greg) Ann
Gibson and Christopher (Gina) Lynn Cummins; a sister, Lula Mae Bishop;
11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many close friends of
Anderson County and Corinth Christian Church. Nannie was predeceased by
her parents, William Elijah and Anna Mae Kirkland Foley; a sister,
Frances Lee Cummins; and a brother, Billy Foley.
Visitation will be held from 1 until 3:30 p.m. today, Thursday, April 1,
at Corinth Christian Church with a private family funeral service and
graveside following. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Saffell
House Funeral Home.
