Ernest E Duncil, 73, of Versailles, passed away Friday, April 2, 2021,

after fighting a courageous battle against cancer that was very recently

diagnosed in his lung and brain.

Ernie was born on July 25, 1947 to the late George Elmer Duncil and

Monie Lee Back Duncil in Hazard. After graduating from Dilce Combs High

School in 1966, he moved to Versailles. He served in the U.S. Army

beginning in 1968 and was a 40 year employee of the former Rand McNally

Company in Versailles, where he made many friends and got his nickname

“Zero.” One of his most acquired attributes was making lifelong friends

and telling unique stories about his childhood. He was passionate about

golfing, camping, gardening and his guitar.

Anyone who knew him knew that he was the most loving father, brother,

uncle and friend anyone could ask for, and he accepted Christ as his

personal Savior at the age of 29 and spent many hours claiming scripture

and reading God’s Word.

He is survived by his three children, Jennifer Ann Duncil, Barry Patrick

Duncil and Joshua Clay Duncil; two sisters, Penelope (Danny) Duncil

Jackson, Versailles; and Pandora (Roy) Duncil Smith, Dayton, Ohio; and

numerous nieces and nephews. Ernie was predeceased by siblings, Reagen

Duncil, William Ronald Duncil, Priscilla Kaye Duncil and Georgia Duncil

Smitha.

Visitation will be held from 12 until 2 p.m. today, Thursday, April 8,

at Kerr Brothers, Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, followed by a graveside

service with military honors at Camp Nelson National Cemetery,

Nicholasville.
