Ronald D. Craig, 81, husband of Janice Bunton Craig, passed away Friday,
April 16, 2021.
A native of Versailles, he was born on Sept. 19, 1939 to the late J.D.
and Hazel Beatley Craig. He was a branch manager for the Department of
Agriculture, as well as a cattle and sheep farmer. Ronald was a great
supporter of youth in agriculture, especially the FFA, and he was a
longtime superintendent of the sheep show at the North American
International Livestock Exposition. He was also a member of the
Committee of 101 for which he ushered fans at the University of Kentucky
basketball and football games.
In addition to his wife of 63 years, he is survived by his daughters,
Lea (Michael) Lewis, Springfield; and Sheila (Roger) Cheatham, LaGrange;
his grandchildren, Tyler (Jessica) Cheatham, Shelbyville; and Lindsey
Cheatham, LaGrange; his step-grandchildren, Jennifer (Justin) Short,
Lexington; and Robert Lewis, Bowling Green; and his great-granddaughter,
Brook Ann Farmer.
Services were held Monday, April 19, at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles
Road, with Jake Sargent officiating. Serving as casket bearers were
Tyler Cheatham, Roger Cheatham, Mike Lewis, Robert Lewis, Joe Grambrel
and Robert Pillow. Honorary casket bearers were Lindsey Cheatham,
Jennifer Short and Danny Moore. Burial followed in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kentucky
FFA Foundation or Hosparus Health Green River.
