Mary Margaret Richardson House, of Versailles, passed away Thursday,
June 25, 2021, after a brief illness.
Mary Margaret was a lifelong home maker in every sense of the word. She
was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Born on July
3, 1939, in Versailles, Mary Margaret was a graduate of Versailles High
School. She was a faithful member of the Versailles Baptist Church.
Mary Margaret was loyal; always taking cautious care of anyone or
anything entrusted in her care. This included her children and their
friends, her grandchildren, and her grand dogs. She was a great cook and
very thoughtful. No birthday or holiday escaped without her sending
handwritten notes with her perfect penmanship to friends and family.
These special notes will be cherished and missed along with her homemade
dumplings, chili and chocolate cake.
Mary Margaret is survived by her husband of 56 years, Phillip House of
Versailles; her sons, Kevin (Tammy) of Fort Myers, Florida; and Greg
(Jennifer) of Lexington; her daughter, Lisa (Rocky) Padgett of
Versailles; grandsons, Will Padgett of Versailles; and Davis House of
Lexington; and her namesake and granddaughter Edie Margaret House of
Lexington. Additionally, she is survived by her sister and best friend
JoAnn Leigh of Versailles; and sisters-in-law Barbara Richardson, Maxine
Gilkison of Versailles, and Martha House of Owensboro; a devoted
caregiver, Evelyn Wilder of Versailles; along with a host of nieces and
nephews. Mary Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence
and Josephine Richardson. She was also preceded in death by siblings and
their spouses, Carl (Margaret) Richardson, Katherine (Harold) Lee,
Clayton (Jane) Richardson, Clarence (Ruby) Richardson Jr., Betty
(Junior) Hagan and Paul Richardson. She was also preceded in death by
her in-laws, Elwood and Roberta House and a brother-in-law, David House
of Midway; along with some other special family members.
Services were held Monday, June 28, at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill
Avenue, in Versailles. Pallbearers were Kevin House, Greg House, Rocky
Padgett, Will Padgett, Davis House, Edie Margaret House and Brad
Carmickle. Honorary pallbearers were all the devoted caregivers that
loved and cared for her during her illness. Burial followed in Midway
Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations be made to
Bluegrass Care Navigators (Hospice) or Versailles Baptist Church.
