Ramon “Ray” C. Lowry, 91, husband of Junaita Burlison Lowry for 67
years, died Friday, June 25, 2021.
He was born in Bourbon County on Dec. 27, 1929. Ray was retired from
Prudential Financial Services, a Henry Clay High School graduate and
attended The University of Kentucky. Ray worked 32 years at Western Auto
Supply Company, 15 in corporate management and 17 in owning dealerships
in Versailles. Ray was active in community affairs, Board of Directors
at the United Bank and Trust and President of Woodford County Chamber of
Commerce. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, serving as deacon,
Sunday school class teacher and choir member, including founding member
of Hallelujah Singers.
Survivors other than his wife include two sons, Steve Lowry (Jerri
Malloy) of Nashville, Tennessee; and Ron Lowry (Louise Mennier) of
Boston, Massachusetts; two grandsons, William and Jonathan Lowry of
Boston, Massachusetts; a sister, Joyce Witt; and several nieces and
nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, at
Immanuel Baptist Church with a service following. Entombment will follow
in Lexington Cemetery Mausoleum.
