John William “Bill” Ahern Jr., 84, husband of Nee Nee Ahern, died

Sunday, July 4, 2021, at Bluegrass Community Hospital.

Born on March 26, 1937, in Lexington, he was the son of the late John

William Ahern and Helen Lacy Webber. He was a 1955 graduate of

Versailles High School and served as a seaman in the United States Navy.

He retired from IBM after more than 30 years as a computer engineer. In

his retirement, he was a driver for the Central Kentucky Funeral and

Limousine Association for over 20 years. He was a member of St. Leo

Catholic Church.

In addition to his wife of 60 years, he is survived by a daughter, Kelly

(Dean) Lavy, Doha, Qater; a son, Bill (Shannon) Ahern, Memphis,

Tennessee; a sister, Myra (Bob) Blankenship, Versailles; a brother,

Charles “Bones” (Peggy) Webber, Millville; and three grandchildren,

Morgan (Ben) Ferguson, Lexington; and Logan Ahern and Olivia Ahern, both

of Memphis, Tennessee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in

death by his stepfather, Charles L. Webber, and a sister, Sissy Dotson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, July

8, at St. Leo Catholic Church, by Fr. Chris Clay. Pallbearers will be

Bill Ahern, Dean Lavy, Bob Blankenship, Bones Webber, Heath Dotson and

Ben Ferguson. Honorary pallbearers will be his golf companions.

Interment will follow in Rose Crest Cemetery.
