Mildred Evangeline Owenby Simandle, 97, widow of Sidney Ray Simandle,
died Thursday, July 1, 2021, at home.
Born on Feb. 23, 1924, in Fannin County, Georgia, she was the daughter
of the late Everett Cecil and Ruby Queen Owenby. She was a retired
Woodford County High School teacher and member of First Christian Church.
She is survived by three children, Sandy Simandle, Susan Simandle, both
of Versailles; and Stanton (Lynn McCoy) Simandle, Lexington; three
grandchildren, Sarah Simandle, Kessler (Andrew Spevak) McCoy-Simandle
and Chandler McCoy-Simandle; and two great-grandchildren, Shaw Spevak
and Josiah Allen. In addition to her husband and parents, she was
preceded in death by five siblings, Eschol Owenby, Sherrill Owenby
Kisselburg, Margaret Owenby Wakefield, Wanda Owenby Barker and William
“Bill” Owenby.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 9, at First
Christian Church, Versailles. Private interment will be in Versailles
Cemetery.
