Melvin Edward “Eddie” Hardy Jr., 69, husband of Teresa Hardy, died
Sunday, July 4, 2021, at his home in Midway.
Born on Jan. 11, 1952, in Irvine, he was the son of the late Melvin
Edward Hardy Sr. and Virginia Noland Hardy. In 1974, he began Modern
Castles Construction company. He also owned Yesterday’s Chariots for
over 20 years and several of his restored historic cars were featured in
the movies “The Green Mile” and “Fire Down Below.”
In addition to his wife of nearly 20 years, he is survived by two
children, Melvin Edward Hardy, III, Midway; and RaeAndrea “Andi”
(Dwight) Marcum, Winchester; three stepchildren, Tarah (Alex) LeBlanc,
Louisville; Lynette (Manuel) Cordero and Blake (Emily) Combs, both of
Lexington; three siblings, Mary Hardy, Mickey (Teresa) Hardy, Millie
(Charles) Lees, all of Lexington; eight grandchildren, Lindsey (Shea)
Thrash, Allison (Austin) Norton, Andrew Hardy, Tessa Caliz, Eliza Caliz,
Nikolai Cordero, Myra Cordero and Elena Combs; and two
great-grandchildren, Reese Allison Snedegar and James Dwight Thrash.
Services were conducted Friday, July 9, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral
Home, by Bro. Dave Menser. Pallbearers were Dwight Marcum, Brandon Lees,
Noland Lees, Todd Howard, Jay Griffith and Blake Combs. Interment
followed in Midway Cemetery.
