Sara Brandenburg, 81, passed away Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021.
The wife of Wayne A. Brandenburg, Sara was born on July 30, 1940 to the late Nick and Sadie Thomas Smith in Lebanon. An active member of St. Leo Catholic Church and their spiritual retreat program, CRHP, Sara was a very social person, always helping others and making many friends along the way. She enjoyed flowers, planting in just the right spot in the yard and making cherished memories with her granddaughter, Kendall. In her younger years, Sara loved to travel and camp, but family dinners and holidays have always been important to her.
In addition to her husband of 57 years, Wayne A. Brandenburg of Versailles, Sara is survived by her son, Robert (Kristy) Brandenburg of Versailles, a sister, Diane Smith of Louisville, brothers, Mike (Cheryl) Smith of Louisville, and Nick (Faye) Smith of North Carolina; and her granddaughter, Kendall Brandenburg of Versailles.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, Aug. 12, at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill Avenue in Versailles. Serving as pallbearers will be Frank Snipp, Jerry Cornett, Steve Sexton, Barry Robinson, Tony Mount and Mike Hardman. Burial will follow in Rose Crest Cemetery.
