Armenta Phillips Chase, 94, widow of Albert James Chase Jr., died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021, at home.
Born on June 19, 1927, in Mortonsville, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the youngest daughter of the late Albert Hollie Phillip and Josephine Walker Phillips. She was a faithful member of Polk Memorial Baptist Church, where she was the pianist for 65 years and retired from Rand McNally in Versailles.
She is survived by three children, Gwendolyn C. Howard, Katherine Chase Irby, both of Versailles; and Albert James “A.J.”(Avis) Chase III, Lexington; six grandchildren, Timothy Harris, Somerset; Hollie (T.C.) Walker, Lexington; Albert (Jamie) Chase IV, Vicenza, Italy; Ingrid (Vincent) Davis ,Frankfort; Tiffani (Derrick) Miller, Atlanta, Georgia; Bryan (Kelley) Irby, Independence; and six great-grandchildren, Tristin Harris-Walker, Madison Miller, Michael Miller, Bryanna Irby, Naya Davis and Isaac Irby; along with a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Tony L. (Tee) Jones.
Due to COVID-19, a private service will be held Monday, Sept. 13, at Polk Memorial Baptist Church. The service will be live-streamed at https://www.facebook.com/www.MorganFuneralHome. The viewing will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, at First Baptist Church, Versailles. Morgan Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
