Shelia Ann Hood Maxberry, 61, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2021, at her home in Versailles.
Born on Nov. 8, 1959, in Bardstown, she was the daughter of Willanna Barnes Cox and the late Eules Marshall Hood Sr. She was a 1977 graduate of Nelson County High School and worked for Texas Instruments, Taylor Manor and was a CNA for Hospice of the Bluegrass. She was a member of Chaplin Christian Church and attended Journey Church.
Survivors include two children, Chastity (Tracy) Gates, Versailles; and Leslie Burkhead, Bloomfield; two siblings, Michael (Stephanie) L. Hood, Lawrenceburg; and Robin (Carolyn Russell) Hood, Southport, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Brianna Gates, Adrian Gates, Cameron Gates, Madison Gates, Brooklyn Blair, Ethan Metcalf, Isaiah Burkhead and Landon Burkhead; and a great-grandchild, Elijah Agee. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by stepfather, Leon Cox.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at Houghlin Funeral Home, 119 Fairfield Hill Road, Bloomfield. Pallbearers will be Tracy Gates, Adrian Gates, Ethan Metcalf, Russell Maxberry, Gary Carter and Jason Courtney. Burial will follow in Highview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 14, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home, 161 Broadway Street, Versailles and from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, at Houghlin Funeral Home.
