Josephine Canada McKinley, 89, widow of Rev. Charles Richard McKinley, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, at the Indiana University Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, Indiana.
Born on April 6, 1932, in Krupp, she was the daughter of the late Jim Fred and Lue Davis Canada. She was a graduate of Woodbine High School in Corbin. She was an administrative assistant for the Commonwealth of Kentucky Guardianship Services. She also served alongside her husband as pastor at the Versailles First Pentecostal Church of God for 34 years.
Survivors include three daughters, Lou (Rev. Ed) Underwood, Lafayette, Indiana; Laurel McKinley, Versailles; and Amy (Tom) Caywood, Lexington; six grandchildren, Charles (Carrie) Edward Underwood, Tampa, Florida; Jessica (Stormy) Martin, Madisonville; Richard (Brooke) McKinley Underwood, Iberia, Missouri; Andrew (Karlie) Lafferty, London; Alex Keller and Jared Keller, both of Versailles, six great-grandchildren, Tayelor Martin, Ella Martin, Levi Martin, Judah Underwood, Huxley Underwood and Jovie Underwood; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles (Arlene) McKinley Jr.
Services will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 14, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home, by the Rev. James Rayburn, Lt. Col. US Army (Ret) and the Rev. Gene Roberts. Pallbearers will be Eddie Underwood, Stormy Martin, Richard Underwood, Andrew Lafferty, Alex Keller and Jared Keller. Burial will follow in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m.
