William Wade Johnson III, 68, husband of Phyllis “PJ” Tucker Johnson, passed away Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021, in Lexington.
He was born on June 16, 1953, in Glasgow, to the late William Wade Jr. and Gladys Johnson. Wade was a Mason for over 40 years and most recently a member of Buford Lodge #494 in Midway. Wade was a faithful Christian and he and Phyllis were longtime members of Southside Christian Church in Versailles.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Robert (Kaylee) Benjamin Johnson; grandchildren, Devon, Madyson and Henry; sister, Sandi J. (Richard) McDowell; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, William Wade Johnson IV.
A 10 a.m. service will take place today, Thursday, Oct. 28, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Main St. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery. A Masonic service took place the night of visitation, Wednesday, Oct. 27. Pallbearers will be Elden Cox, Jody George, Steve Ginter, James Ginter Jr. Paul David Gray and Brian McDowell. Honorary pallbearers will be James Ginter, Ronnie Hillard, Charlie Beagle, Keith Slugantz and Robert Lynch.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association of Kentucky, 2808 Palumbo Drive #205, Lexington, Ky. 40509.
