Cheryl Ann Kraus, 66, of Versailles, widow of the late John A. “Butchie” Kraus, died Friday, Oct. 15, 2021, at her home.
Born on Sept. 15, 1955, in Mount Vernon, New York, she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. DiNunzio and the late Flora Rose Davidson DiNunzio. She was a 1973 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and a 1994 graduate of Mercy College, New York. She retired most recently from Terry’s 5 and 10, Versailles.
Survivors include three children; Joseph (Lauren) Kraus, Yonkers, New York; Jennifer (Max Weiss) Gardner, Fortney, Texas; and Christopher (Ashlee) Kraus, Versailles; three siblings; John (Estelle) DiNunzio, Laguna Woods, California; Susan (Bernie) Mahoney, Lake Peekskill, New York; and Vinny DiNunzio, Mt. Vernon, New York; seven grandchildren; Blake Kraus, Nicholasville; Lexie and MiKenlee Kraus, “Peanut” Kraus, all of Versailles; Mariah and Justin Weiss, Fortney, Texas; and Isaak Gentry, Nicholasville; nieces and nephews; Sandra (Dallas) Pennington, Versailles; Tracey DiNunzio, Santa Monica, California; Danny Mahoney, Cortlandt Manor, New York; Katie (Nick) O’Neill, Megan Mahoney, both of Verplanck, New York; Amanda Mahoney, Lake Peekskill, New York; Danielle and Lauren Kraus, Hopewell Junction, New York; Steve (Ladonna Jarrell) Pennington, Jessica (Brandon) Walton, Mackenzie Walton; and Lorelai and Dallas Pennington, all of Lawrenceburg. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jacqueline “Jackie” Smith.
Services were conducted Tuesday, Oct. 19, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home, by Pastor Bobby Cairell. Pallbearers were Dallas Pennington, Steven Pennington, Brandon Walton, Paul Reese, Max Weiss and Jason Lewis. Honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren. Burial followed in Camp Nelson National Cemetery, Nicholasville.
