Darlene Kirtley Jackson, 67, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2021, at her home in Versailles.
Born on Oct. 8, 1954, in Woodford County, she was the daughter of Richard Kirtley Jr. and the late Mildred Lilly Kirtley. She was a 1972 graduate of Woodford County High School and a graduate of Kentucky State University. She retired as the Executive Administrative Assistant to the President of Kentucky State University. She was a member of St. Paul A.M.E Church, an active member of the NAACP and the Human Rights Commission, and active in many other community groups and organizations.
Survivors include a son, Domonique (Brittani) Kirtley, Frankfort; father, Richard Kirtley Jr., Versailles; a sister, Danita Kirtley, Indianapolis, Indiana; a brother, Richard (Rita) Kirtley III, Versailles; two grandchildren, Kyla and Kree Kirtley; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Harris, and a brother, Darrell Kirtley.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at Versailles United Methodist Church, by the Rev. William R. T. Hale. At the request of the family and facility, proper facial coverings will be required for all those attending. A private graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends and family may gather prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m.
