John Thomas Ethington III, 68, husband of Charlet J. Ethington, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2021.

Born on March 15, 1953, in Lexington, he was the son of the late John Thomas and Martha Waits Ethington Jr. He was a stallion groomer for Lanes End Farm for 26 years and a member of Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Beth (Justin Werner) Ethington, Versailles; a son, John (Melanie) T. Ethington IV, Danville; a sister, Alice (John) Bassett, Henderson; three grandchildren, Kathryn DeVore, Madeline Ethington and Quentin Ethington; and two nephews, Adam and J.T. Farley.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. today, Thursday, Dec. 30, at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill Ave., by the Rev. Todd Lester. Burial will follow in Rose Crest Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Jamie Ethington, Justin Jones, John Ethington IV, Justin Werner, J.T. Farley, Adam Farley and Quentin Ethington. Honorary casket bearers will be Lanes End Stallion Department. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church or Hospice Care of the Bluegrass.
