Pearl Carrie “Pearl C” Higgins, 87, of Versailles, was called home Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022.
She was born on July, 24, 1934 to Augustus and Maria Williams. She worked at Dickies Restaurant, Texas Instruments and was a caregiver to many people. She was a trustee and missionary at St. Paul AME in Versailles, where she was also head of the kitchen.
Pearl C will be lovingly remembered by her four children, Yvonne, Wilson, Robert H. Higgins Jr., Linda Higgins and Anna Marie Wills; bonus child, Judy Long; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Jessie Scearce, Mammie Brown and Annis Campbell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Higgins Sr.; a sister, Fann Lou Williams; a niece, Mary Etta Brooks; a daughter, Althea Higgins; and best friend, Mary Bartlett.
Homegoing services for Pearl C were held Saturday, Jan. 15, at St. Paul AME, with burial following in Rose Crest Cemetery. Pallbearers were Sylvester Howard, Larry Blackford Sr., Charles Brown III, Travis Collins, Ryan Maxberry and Richard Kirtley, Honorary pallbearers were Joe Henry Waters, Kenneth Winkfield, Ricky Dale, Ellis Collins and Justin Morris.
