Mary Gay Bridgforth, born July 28, 1953, passed from this life on May 8, 2022, at her home in Versailles.

Mary Gay grew up in Versailles, graduated from the Margaret Hall School in Versailles, and from Centre College of Kentucky Class of 1975. She was a thoroughbred horsewoman, farmer, avid gardener, skilled florist and beloved second mother to her nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Mary Gay was a lifelong member of New Union Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and active in numerous charities and civic groups including the Pisgah Historic District Preservation Group.

She is survived by her life-partner Daniel Max Rosenberg; sisters, Evelyn Bridgforth Kemper (Charles Kirk Kemper) and Loy Bridgforth Rush (Jeffrey Stewart Rush); nieces and nephews, Carolyn Bridgforth Cox, Kristen Grinstead Cox, Carrell Taylor Hernandez-Rush (Alex Hernandez), Dorothy Thompson Rush, Leonard Bridgforth (Bridge) Cox (Tracey Love Cox), William Jefferson Rush; the children of her partner, Agatha Spink Critchfield (Ryan Critchfield) and Elana Russell Rosenberg; her partner’s four grandchildren and six great-nieces and great-nephews. Mary Gay was preceded in death by her parents, William Marcellus Bridgforth and Carolyn Thompson Bridgforth and a sister, Lucia Bridgforth Cox (Leonard William Cox).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Woodford Humane Society or New Union Christian Church, P.O. Box 444, Versailles, Ky.
