Minnie Jo Holly Lilly, wife of James Logan Lilly, died Thursday, July 19, 2023. Born on Nov. 23, 1930, in Woodford County, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Elizabeth Campbell Holly. She attended Woodford County schools and graduated from Simmons High School. She worked for several families in Versailles and Lexington. She is survived by nine sons, James (Valeria) Jr., Vincent L., Robert (Monica) Lee, Dwight (Sandra) N., David K., Alvin M., Stefan, Nicholas and Roger (Carolyn) S.; two daughters, Verna (Ramon) M. Smith and Vanessa M. Lilly; two sons-in-law, Harrison Burris and Domino, 27 grandchildren, Sylvia (Greg) La Rue, Nicole Johnson, Joshua Smith, Yolanda Lilly, Malcolm Lilly, Desquonia Lilly, Juan Campbell, Leisha Lilly, Cory Lilly, Ikeas Ty Lilly, Atawn Lilly, Leonora Lilly, Denise Lilly, A’lea Lilly, Tavaris Lilly, Elizabeth Williams, Deangelo Hughes, Mahogany Dobbins, Aleena Hussell, Gary (Senedia) A. L. Lilly, André L. Lilly, James (Erin) S., Nicholas (Tina) J. Lilly, Navia N. Lilly, Cameron N. Lilly, Lyric N. Lilly and Mario Anderson; 56 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren, niece and nephews José J., Richard W., Timothy F. and T. Renée Middleton; and many additional nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Holly Jr.; a sister, Susie Holly Middleton; a half-sister, Mrs. Lucille Largen; a son, Stuart Lopez; a daughter, Valarie Jo Lilly Burris; and two daughters-in-law, Hope L. Lilly and Nell Lilly. Homegoing services were conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, at Versailles United Methodist Church, 230 Paynes Mill Road, Versailles, by the Rev. Willis Polk.
