In the June 19, 2025, edition of The Woodford Sun, in the story titled “Versailles Council rejects lower Midway police budget,” the Sun reported that Mayor Laura Dake, who called the Sun to point out the error, was the first to provide a highly detailed, line-item spreadsheet of revenues and expenditures for the proposed budget to council and the public. This is wrong. The same document was provided to council members and the public by the prior mayor, Brian Traugott, during budget deliberations and before the vote. What was new was the format in which Dake documented the details of certain donations or payments to non-profits such as the food pantry and Chamber of Commerce. Traugott’s budget also provided this information, but in a different format. The Sun regrets the error.
