Doris P. Niswonger Hendren, 93, wife of Willis “Bill” Hendren, died Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Baptist Health in Lexington.
Born on Dec. 3, 1928, in Richmond, she was the daughter of the late Monroe and Ida Marie Pearson Turpin. She was retired from Kuhlman Electric as a longtime machine operator. She was a member of Cramer and Hanover Church of Christ in Lexington and a member of the Red Hat Society.
She is survived by two children, Bobbi (Randy) Marie Swartz, Versailles; and Benjamin (Jessica) Cleveland Niswonger III, Chapin, South Carolina; a brother, Franklin Turpin, Richmond; a granddaughter, Katherine (Joseph) Milliken, Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina; a great-granddaughter, Charlotte Jane Milliken; a stepdaughter, Dana (Danny) Stone, New Albany, Indiana; step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her first husband of 57 years, Benjamin Cleveland Niswonger Jr., and her parents, she was preceded in death by three siblings, Edna Murray, Wilson Turpin and Harold Turpin.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home, by Jonathan Underwood. Burial will follow in Rose Crest Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m.
