Woodford “Woody” Blake, 85, of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Versailles, husband of Judy Blake, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2015. The son of the late Tony and Bessie Blake, he was raised at the Methodist Home in Versailles. He entered the Armed Services as a young man and served in many duty stations overseas. He enjoyed playing baseball and was an avid lover of dog and horse races. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Kelly Jo (Ben) Jordan; a granddaughter, McCartney “Boo-Boop” Jordan; two sons, John Thomas (LuAnn) Blake and Joseph Dean Blake; a daughter, Margaret M. Winick; two grandchildren, Krissie (Ryan) Ament and Johnny (Hollie) Blake; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members. His first wife, Margaret Blake; four siblings, Geno, Viola, Earl, and Francis; a brother-in-law, Richard Faulkner; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Jo Nauman, are deceased. Services were conducted Wednesday, Dec. 30, at Longview Funeral Home and Cemetery, Kansas City, Mo.
